Isn't this supposed to be the happiest time of year?
The year is winding down, which means that (in the Northern Hemisphere) it's getting cold and it seems to get dark in the middle of the afternoon.
We feel like hibernating, but we're expected to get jolly and be festive. By the time the year's over, you're worn down and not feeling like starting anything, much less a new year.
But it doesn't have to be that way.
